FET announced to Join “DOCOMO Asia IoT Program” Asian Mobile Telecom IoT Ecosystem Officially Launched with Accelerated Development of Transnational IoT Services

Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) announced today that it will join the “DOCOMO Asia IoT Program” (AIP). The program, run by the largest mobile operator in Japan, NTT DOCOMO, calls on the establishment of mobile telecommunication Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem by major Asian telecom operators. The “DOCOMO Asia IoT Program” aims to accelerate the expansion of the Asian IoT market through technical exchanges and cooperation among telecom operators in Asia. It is expected to provide customers with more services such as transnational IoT solutions, including IoT links, local operations, related certification, regulatory consulting, etc. Telecom operators from 15 countries in the region have expressed their intention to participate in this program.

Chee Ching, Chief Transformation Officer of FET, stated that "As the 1st in enabling NB-IoT nationwide in Taiwan, FET’s mission is to build strong Taiwanese IoT ecosystem to go global. While actively developing IoT applications and preparing for 5G, FET is partnering with domestic and global enterprises in various segments to drive IoT business growth. We are very pleased to be part of the ‘DOCOMO Asia IoT Program’ this time.

FET will use the brand’s influence to connect more international IoT services in order to strengthen the IoT ecosystem in Asia." FET launched the first “IoT Ecosystem” in Taiwan at the end of 2017. At present, more than 80 well-known enterprises have joined, and FET’s NB-IoT service has been used by more than 300 upstream and downstream software and hardware companies. This May, FET led in completing the coverage of the entire NB-IoT network in Taiwan. The company further became the first domestic enterprise to jointly issue the "IoT Ecology Handbook" with the Cloud Computing & IoT Association in Taiwan this September. The content contains the innovative application service of members of NB-IoT ”IoT-Ecosystem”, and the goal is to strengthen transnational IoT services through the power of the ecosystem, as well as to accelerate the matching and cooperation of international business opportunities. A further goal is to promote the diversified development of the domestic IoT industry.

At the launching ceremony and kickoff meeting of “DOCOMO Asia IoT Program” just held in Tokyo, Japan, FET shared the experience of IoT planning and deployment. FET’s application of NB-IoT services covers Internet of Vehicles (IoV), electric car/bicycle monitoring management, smart street lights, smart parking, smart environment detection, global asset tracking, etc. FET also continued to expand the IoT ecosystem and actively promote industry alliances. During the conference, FET representatives exchanged views of IoT business development with the members of the “DOCOMO Asia IoT Program” so as to lay the foundation for future cooperation.
